The nights are drawing in, and what better way to rid yourself of those inevitable winter blues than with a spot of Californian sunshine!
On Saturday 2nd December, we hosted a once-in-a-lifetime supper club with Michelin-starred husband and wife chef duo, Evan and Sarah Rich of Rich Table in California to celebrate the annual harvest.
We created a beautiful hidden walnut orchard at a secret venue in Shoreditch and guests indulged in a delicious six-course feast, with each dish featuring sweet and creamy California walnuts. Every course was paired with a hand-picked Californian wine for the ultimate gastronomic experience. Not bad for a cold winter’s night, if we do say so ourselves.
Evan and Sarah’s renowned and rustic signature style of cooking, incorporating unusual flavours and ingredients, ensured guests were taken on a culinary journey they’ll never forget. Dishes included Walnut Milk Panna Cotta with Dill Oil, Burrata with Tikka Masala and Walnut Crumble, Spaghetti with Walnut, Chantarelle, Fresh Passionfruit and Shisho, Beer Battered Fish Bite, Walnut Grilled Strip Steak with Walnut Salsa Verde and Brassica and finally, Walnut Ice with Lemon Sorbet, Walnut Marmalade and Sage.
Chef Evan Rich, said: “Californian cuisine is a true passion of mine and the supper club brought sweet and creamy California walnuts to every dish on the menu. The diners loved them as much as I do, and perhaps will now visit the Golden State to discover more of our delicious home-grown foods first-hand.”
Although Evan and Sarah’s first foray in the London foodie scene was brief, their Michelin starred cooking with California walnuts brought a ray of sunshine to Shoreditch that left Londoners wanting another taste – watch this space!
